How far is Mahabaleshwar from Pune?
Pune to Mahabaleshwar is about 120 km. The drive takes roughly 3 to 3.5 hours. Most of it is easy highway running; the last stretch is the scenic ghat climb up from Wai, which is where the cool air and views begin.
Best time to visit
Mahabaleshwar is pleasant almost year-round, but each season has its character:
- Winter (Nov–Feb): the best time — crisp weather, clear valley views and peak strawberry season.
- Summer (Mar–Jun): a welcome escape from Pune's heat; still green and comfortable.
- Monsoon (Jul–Sep): lush, misty and dramatic with full waterfalls — but roads can be foggy and slippery, so an experienced driver matters.
